Typically, the water company will want a copy of the settlement statement faxed to them before transferring the account so you may not be able to take care of that until closing. Their requirements change frequently so you should call them to find out how they want you to handle it.

Effective June 1, 2008, as part of the DeKalb County Ineffcient Plumbing Fixtures Replacement Plan, a Certificate of Compliance will be required for water service to be turned on.
